The University of Georgia Bulldogs2017 On the offensive side of the ball, Jonathan Boone decides to return for his senior year and build off the success from the prior season. Boone passed for over 3400 yds with 33 TD’s and only 9 INT’s. He has improved his accuracy and his strength, so hopefully his season will show. Maurice Johnson will be the feature HB after spelling Leonard King for most of the season last year. Johnson was got some valuable playing time last year and was able to amass 600 yds himself. He is no stranger to be fed the rock from Jonathan Boone and looks to have a breakout season. Cornelius Sanchez graduated last season and was taken in the 2nd round of the NFL draft. The Receiving Corps are down this season for the Dawgs but there are still playmakers at this position. Gilbert Dickerson returns as does Robert Harris, who sat out last season with some academic problems. Also, Isaiah McBride will be making his debut as a Bulldog WR and will get some very valuable and important playing time this season. McBride will be looked to early and often for the Bulldogs offense. Cedric Thomas will start his senior season at the Tight End position, but look out for Marcus Wood who is equally as good to step in and get some reps when the Dawgs are in a 2 TE set. The offensive line is the strength of the team this year. All starters return except for Keenan Gilmore will be lining up for reps at the RT position yet only a Freshman. Defensively, Georgia lost some very good players in the front seven, but the cupboards were not bare. Dan Holmes and Chris Gaston return to their D Line positions and look to have All American type seasons. Vince Palmer will slide over to the OLB spot to make room for JUCO sensation Jonathan Holt at the MLB spot. Blake Siegel will get his first reps for the Dawgs at the other OLB spot. Thomas Brown and Will Smith both decided to return to college for their senior seasons and get their degrees. Brown is a first team preseason All American candidate and looks to increase his draft stock. Brown is a true lock down corner. Freshman Mike McCoy will be getting his feet wet early in his career, starting at the Free Safety spot from day one for the Dawgs. McCoy brings great speed and cover skills to a position that was left in need after the graduation of James Hawkins. Gerry Kelly will start at the Strong Safety position after waiting his turn for 4 years. Kelly has a wealth of knowledge having been in the system for 5 years now. He is very anxious to get in a show his skills to the Bulldog Nation.
