Texas is still trying to figure out their identity but after another solid game by DJ Monroe and another lack luster game by Garrett Gilbert the decision might have been made already
Week 4- #5 Texas 10 - UCLA 24Texas faces adversity; rolls over0-7 end of 1st7-14 end of 2nd10-21 end of 3rd10-24 end of 4thStory of the Game- Texas lacks passion // On both sides of the ball Texas' absolutely got their asses handed to them. 11-27 passing, only 2.5 YPC and 6 turnovers (3I/3F) led to an anemic offense. 13-19 passing for UCLA, twice as long time of possesion, and only 1 pick led to a tired and run down defensive showing by the Longhorns.
Week 5- #12 Texas 35 - Oklahoma 42Big play, after big play; OU comes out ontop0-0 end of 1st14-14 end of 2nd21-28 end of 3rd35-42 end of GameStory of the Game- Texas finally makes some big plays // Lacking the big play ability has killed Texas early in the season, but this game was different. Texas had big play after big play including two 80 yard TDs. However, big teams make big plays when it counts... OU's Demontre Hurst did just that, intercepting Garrett Gilbert and taking it back 44 yards to the house, which was ultimately the game.

Week 7- #24 Texas 17 - #4 Nebraska 31Cornhuskers run away with game; Texas left scratching their heads0-3 end of 1st3-10 end of 2nd10-24 end of 3rd17-31 end of GameStory of the game- Nebraska plays mistake-free football // Texas turned the ball over once, and it was huge. Yet another pick six by Gilbert put the game away, that, mixed with continued struggles on 3rd down sealed the fate of the Longhorns.
Week 8- Texas 27 - Iowa State 24Texas shows heart; pulls out amazing 4th quarter comeback0-14 end of 1st6- 24 end of 2nd20-24 end of 3rd27- 24 end of GameStory of the Game- Texas pulls out amazing 4th quarter // After being down 6-24 at half Texas was able to sratch and claw their way back into the game heading into the 4th quarter. Form there Texas blanked Iowa State and was able to score 7 points, but not in the way you would think. 2 safeties and a field goal with no time left would seal the game for the Longhorns.
Week 9- Texas 42 - Baylor 17Texas finally shows up; plays a complete game7-0 end of 1st21-3 end of 2nd35-10 end of 3rd42-17 end of GameStory of the Game- Garret Gilbert plays like a star // After struggling most of the season Gilbert finally looked like a star today. 315 yards + 5 scores - 1 int, Gilbert set career marks in yards and TDs. With Texas brining in the Top 2 QB prospects from this years class, it looks like Gilbert is starting to look over his shoulder.
