Trojans Use Turns Overs to Turn Table on Oregon USC traveled to Eugene to face the Oregon Ducks in a game that if past history was any indicator would be a close hard fought game. USC started fast taking he opening kickoff and driving 80 yards for the first points of the day on a 12 yard TD pass to Upshaw. The game took a dramatic turn on the Ducks 2nd play as Oregon's QB Reed was intercepted by Kramer and returned 41 yards for a TD and suddenly USC was holding a 14-0 lead. But the Ducks did not panic and put together a nice drive that ended when HB Williams scored on a 12 yard run to cut the Trojan lead to 14-7. The Trojans capitalized on two more Reed interceptions to increase their lead to 24-7 at the half. In the 3rd Qtr the Trojans increased the lead to 27-7 on a 40 yard FG but the Ducks stormed right back to pull within 27-14 when HB Stone scored from 4 yards out as the 3rd Qtr ended. Any chance of a comeback ended in the 4th Qtr when Reed fumbled the ball while running the option. The Trojans recovered but were unable to score any points but were able to take valuable time off the clock. The Trojans got the final points on the board when Stone was stopped in his own end zone for the safety and made the final 29-14. It was a good game by Sabo and I believe that fumbled option was one of the strangest things I have ever seen. Hopefully we can each hold serve and do this again in the PAC-12 title game.
