Florida looked to keep their perfect season alive as they traveled to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Florida's Defense again started the game in sleep-walk mode as they allowed Vandy to march down the field and take an early 7-0 lead. Luckily for Gator fans, they woke up. Florida's offense was very efficient in the opening half with John Brantley hitting Carl Moore on a 13 yd TD. Chris Rainey & Emmanuel Moody would also score short TD runs to give the Gators a halftime lead of 21-7.

Florida made countless mistakes throughout this game. Emmanuel Moody fumbled literally on the goalline and kicker Caleb Sturgis missed 5 field goals. They were not chip shots but the coaches were extremely disappointed in their kicker. Forth quarter action would see Linebacker AJ Jones pick off Larry Smith and take it back 20yds for the TD. On the ensuing drive, Jones would pick up a Smith fumble and take it back 10 yds for his second TD in a minute. The Gators already without star tailback Jeff Demps and speedy freshman Andre Dubose, lost starting WR Deonte Thompson early in the game. The coaches hope that he will be back next week.

    Final - Florida 35 Vanderbilt 7

Player of the game was Jones.. With the two quick TD's and strong all around play, he's getting some accolades that he so richly deserves. He's kind of flown under the radar this season with some of the splendid play by some of the other big names on defense but Gator coaches value his senior leadership and tough run defense.

John Brantley lead the Gator offense going 21-42 for 288yds and 1 TD.. Again he did not throw any pick's. Moody lead the charge on the ground with 114yds on 22 carries with a TD. Chris Rainey contributed 49 yds through the air with another 28 yds and a TD on the ground.

Up next for the Gators is a monster game against South Carolina. The winner of this battle should go onto the SEC championship game. The game will be played in Gainesville so the Gators are somewhat confident but they also know they will get all they can handle from a well coached Gamecock squad.

    Blacksburg, VA:

f you would have told Georgia Tech fans QB Joshua Nesbitt would throw for 471 yards and 4 TD, they would have laughed at you... Well keep laughing, because it just happened.

This game was a mess from the beginning as the Hokies stopped the Yellow Jackets 1st posession with a 3 and out. They then drove the ball deep into Georgia Tech territory, picking apart the defense at will. Somehow, the GT defense came up with a stand and interecepted the ball at the 6.

That would set up the only first half score for Georgia Tech. At their own 6, the team had a quick option called, but the entire Hokie defense was on the line of scrimmage, so Nesbitt audibles to a quick out route to his WB Embry Peeples. 94 yards later, it would be a TD.

Unfortunately the Hokies would score 34 unanswered points until midway through the 3rd quarter. At that point, it was time to air it out. And air it out they did. Embry Peeples 181 yards, 1 TD on 4 catches. WR Stephen Hill 158 yards and 2 TD on 4 catches. And WB Roddy Jones 4 catches for 87 yards. There was no attempt to hide it, no attempt to get cute. When your down 34-7, youve gotta open up the game.

The Hokies though were just too hard to stop. 45% on 3rd downs, and 100 % on their only 4th down a 1 yard TD run at the goal line. Oh yeah, and the time of posession was 22 minutes to 9. Ouch.

HB Ryan Williams was named player of the game with 135 yards, 3 TD on 26 carries.

Next week the Yellow Jackets play Miami in another big ACC contest. The team needs just 1 more win to be bowl elligible, but we would love to end the season at 8-4.

Damn, was that a basketball game or a football game? I thought GT and VT were defensive teams. Wish I could have watched that one though.

Tech Offense Steals Show As They Conquer Rival Georgia Tech
    [IMG]
Hokies have been able to use the victory formation in their past 8 games and continue to roll.

    BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA
-- An unexpected style of play was on display at Lane Stadium Saturday as the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech and the Hokies of Virginia Tech got caught in a high-scoring affair. Many national pundits expected a hard grind it out defensive battle, but the exact opposite occured as the teams combined for 82 points. With the entire nation watching, the Virginia Tech Defense gave up the most points it has all season due to Joshua Nesbitt's aerial attack where he posted over 471 yards and 4 touchdowns on the night. A surprise considering Georgia Tech runs the Triple Option Offense under head coach Paul Johnson. "We weren't really expecting them to have such an effective passing game, which caught us off guard. They did well trying to get back in the game and we will have to go back over the tapes to see what we can correct" said Senior Cornerback Rashad Carmichael. Carmichael, made quite possibly the play of the game with the score 34-14 and Georgia Tech on the doorstep late in the 3rd quarter, he intercepted a pitch to a running back and took it back to the house. "Thank my parents for my great instincts, it's all in the genes" said Carmichael about the big play. After Georgia Tech intercepted a first quarter pass from Tyrod Taylor in the Red Zone and got a big play from Running Back Embry Peebles to take the lead 7-0 it was all Hokies.

The Virginia Tech Offense managed to put 34 unanswered points from the end of the 1st quarter until mid-way through the 3rd quarter. "Our Offense really was clicking on all cylinders, and my boy Taylor was a big part of that. He has been really hard on himself this year, but if he is playing well we are very hard to beat" said Offensive Captain Ryan Williams. Taylor had an efficient day through the air accounting for a touchdown while Williams and Darren Evans kept up their astounding rushing game with over 200 yards on the ground. 135 of those yards came complimentary of Ryan Williams, who had a big 69-yard rush for a touchdown in the 4th quarter and continues to lead the nation in rushing on the year. The game was never in doubt most of the way as the Hokie Offense really showed what they are capable of down the stretch. "We just have to stay focused on our goals, and our most immediate goal is making it to the ACC Championship Game. We have 3 tough games left with North Carolina, Miami, and Virginia so we have to keep at it and don't settle" said Taylor. "We really hope some teams will lose at the top of the BCS rankings so maybe we can slip into a National title game with Florida, Nebraska, or a rematch with Boise State. I would love nothing more than to get a rematch with the Broncos, but that would mean a lot would have to happen" he added.

The Hokies will be on the road to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels (4-5, 2-3) in an ACC Coastal division game next week.

Offensive Player of the Game: RB Ryan Williams, 26 carries, 135 yards, & 3 touchdowns
Defensive Players of the Game: CB Rashad Carmichael, 3 tackles, 1 PD, & an 92-yard intercepted pitch return for a touchdown

GG Bosox. Obviously throwing for 470 yards wasnt in the game plan, but I was way behind.

I absolutely understood, I would've done the exact same thing and my defense should've played better to stop your big plays. Good Game all around though.
