"I tried to do the honorable thing..." - Coach Outspoknpoet didn't know what else to say.

After taking a 48-21 lead early in the fourth quarter he took out his starters on both sides of the ball and said to his back-up Freshman QB, Tyler Bray - "If that ball goes in the air you sit during the Florida game!"

The ball didn't go in the air once, but it did somehow end up in the end-zone three more times before it was all said and done.

The fans could be heard chanting "F*** LANE KIFFIN!" as the clock ticked down to 0:00. It was a great day for Volunteers everywhere. Unfortunately, it only gets harder from here as they face arch-rival Florida and Coach AJ Hart MN next week.

The SEC isn't kind, but if you prove yourself you will most likely be playing for chance at the BCS Title game.

Man, that's an impressive beatdown of a very good Oregon team. I sure hope I don't see your backup qb as that means it's garbage time. Well I guess I could handle seeing him if somehow Simms were to get hurt. Believe me, it's not beneath Ahmed Black or any other Gator for that matter to take a somewhat questionable shot at a defenseless Simms.. Lol This is the SEC! Anything goes when you pit the Gators and the Vols.

Virginia Tech rides explosion in 4th quarter for Marshall beatdown
    [IMG]
Ryan Williams (above) and Darren Evans lead Tech Offense

    BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA
-- Hokie fans everywhere can rest easy knowing that the perennial ACC powerhouse showed flashes of a good season today with their 49-10 mauling of Marshall. Virginia Tech waited to show their real dominance until the 4th quarter when they scored 28 points, with two touchdowns by the Hokie defense and touchdowns from the running duo of Ryan Williams and Darren Evans. The Defense in Blacksburg has looked so special so far in the season giving up only 27 points through 2 games, which has allowed the offense time to gather their momentum. The Defense forced 4 fumbles, which all resulted in turnovers as the side flexed their muscles throughout the game.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor played much better in Week 2 going 16-for-26 with 206 yards and 2 touchdowns, but also had 2 interceptions. "I still haven't played to the best of my ability, but I feel I did a much better job this week" said Taylor in his post-game interview. The running back duo of Sophomore Ryan Williams and Junior Darren Evans seems to be an explosive duo. They combined for 175 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, one of those touchdowns for Evans came out of the Wild Turkey formation, taking a hand off from Williams to pay dirt. The offense still hasn't come all the way together yet, but seems to be growing from week to week. "The Defense is way ahead of the Offense, but we are still good enough to win games like this" said Coach Beamer.

    Notes:
The Hokies will take on Eastern Carolina University next week at Lane Stadium with a 3:00 PM kick-off time...Tech fell in last week's coaches poll from 7th to 13th, but hopes to see a jump back up with the win this week over Marshall...Senior Center Beau Warren was held out of the fourth quarter after suffering an injury for precautionary measures...Freshman Quarterback Logan Thomas came in in the 4th quarter for Taylor to complete his first pass of the season.

For the second consecutive week, Florida rode their Defense to another rout over a over-matched opponent.

John Brantley and the Gator offense opened the game up early on with a explosive passing game. Early in the 2nd qtr and after Brantley's 3rd TD of the game, this one was all but over. The Gators would add another TD in the middle of the 2nd before South Florida would get on the scoreboard with a seemingly familiar site these days down in Gainesville. Brantley made yet another bad read and it resulted in 6 points for the Bulls.

The 2nd half would see Florida put this game in cruise control and glide in to a 45-7 victory.

New Coach AJ Hart had some candid thoughts about both sides of the ball. "Right now, our defense is playing at a championship level. Will Hill is playing like a Thorpe award winner and everyone out there is making plays. Our defensive line is dominating and our secondary has been sensational". Asked about his offense, the coach did not mince words. "We've been bad! The quarterback is making terrible reads, the line isn't opening up running lanes and our backs just havn't hit the holes like we want them to. If our offense brings this kind of effort up to Knoxville, we'll get run out of the building". The coach then smiled "we'll be ready for the Vols, I can guarantee you that".

The player of the game was Deonte Thompson.. He had 3 catches for 64yds and 2 touchdowns.

Up next for the 2-0 gators is the trip to Knoxville. It's the beginning of a brutal stretch in the schedule in which they also will see Alabama, LSU and Georgia. We'll know real soon if this Gator team is for real.

If you are running windows 7 or vista, click on the start icon, then in the search box type in "snipping tool" then open it up. It allows you to take snippet shots of whats on your screen. If you are running on XP you could download it, just google snipping tool.

then upload the photos to a photobucket account or another site, and get the url to past as a pic.

Lawrence, Kansas: The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are 2-0, and currently ranked #11 in the country. They certainly haven't played like it. Once again the defense won the game for the team, this time creating 5 turnovers, the biggest of which was a forced fumble in Overtime.

Senior QB Joshua Nesbitt was knocked out of the game due to an injury and the team is awaiting MRI results to see how much time he will miss. His backup Tevin Washington played well enough, and guided the team to the Overtime Victory.

The offense was able to move the ball a little better this week, and HB Embry Peeples had a couple of nice runs gaining 51 yards on only 5 carries. FB Anthony Allen was the workhorse though leading the team in carries and scoring his first rushing TD of the season. K Scott Blair missed two more Field Goals, and the need for a new kicker is becoming obvious.

CB Jerrard Terrant was named player of the game with 4 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble.

This week the Yellow Jackets travel to Chapel Hill to open conference play against the Tarheels.
