    Final Florida 31 - Mississippi St 8

The Gators continued their perfect season against a game Mississippi St Bulldog team, but a potential devastating injury tainted the victory.

Florida's offense again struggled for most of the first half. Mississippi St seemed to come in with the gameplan to blitz, blitz some more and when all else failed, blitz again. The Bulldogs plan seemed to work at times but it also left the secondary in man coverage quite a bit. This was never more evident on a 3rd down play in the 2nd quarter when the bulldogs sent the house. John Brantley read the blitz, bought a little bit of time with his feet and threw across his body to Chris Rainey who raced for a 87yd TD. The play of the half however was a simple 7yd PR. All everything back Jeff Demps was a bit slow to get up after the short gain and would not return to the ballgame.

The second half would see the Gators grind it out. The offense never was quite right after Demps left the field. Emmanuel Moody got the majority of the carries and Mike Gillislee also saw some time in the backfield. The defense again proved why they are arguably the best in the land. Other than a 45 yd TD pass from bulldog QB Chris Relf, the Gator D was relentless. They didn't record any sacks or interceptions but they would not let the Bulldogs get anything of relevance established.

After the game, reporters bombarded Coach AJ Hart with questions about his star running back not returning to the ballgame. "As of right now, he has a strained back. We're looking at a timetable of about 8 or 9 weeks. Hopefully we can get him back sooner but as of right now, We probably wont see him until the bowl game." Pressed about how his team would take the devastating news. "Come on guys, this is FOOTBALL!! guys get hurt every week. Is he a major part of the success of this team? You DAMN right!! can we win without him? We had better if we want to reach our goals this season. Emmanuel Moody will take his spot and Mike Gillislee will assume the role of the short yardage back. There are reason's you recruit more than one back, this is it".

All you Gator haters rejoice. We'll see what kind of mindset the squad has the next couple of weeks.

Up next for the Gators is the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. This is a huge rivalry game for Florida and if they can put up a W against the Bulldogs, they will be in a great position to play in the SEC championship game.
