Scores and Whores
Cincy blasts LSU on the Bayou 57-21
Auburn falls to Stanford 31-28. A pick 6 right before half and missed FG hurt Auburn. I was very happy with our performance and see good things for this young scrappy team.
MSU Outlasts OU in East Lansing
MSU got off to a quick start when they converted an OU interception into a quick score. OU scores a small miracle when they block the kick (first one I have ever seen). MSU pulled away in the end of the 2nd with a score and a FG in the final minute and a half to enter halftime up 13-3.
MSU got the ball in the second half, but couldn't do much with their lead. MSU and OU played good defense for large parts of the 3rd and 4th. OU finally got it going with 2 minutes to play when Fred Royal stormed into the endzone. OU played D and would get the ball back after some confusion and kindness. They took over at their own 2 with a minute to play and down 3. They got a couple first downs, but they couldn't pull off the comeback.
The difference in this one? Turnovers. OU threw 4 INTs on the day while MSU's Jon Nugent had a great day (10/17 for 182, 2 TDs and 1 INT) as the MSU secondary was everywhere.
Great game Rusty. Hope to play you in Norman next year.
MSU Survives Los Angeles
Sparty got all they could handle with the men of Troy. MSU got a great boost early on when Dan Butler (stud CB #1) returned an INT 80 yards for the opening score. MSU thought it was going to be easy after scoring again three minutes later for a 14-0 lead - even more so with a 17-0 lead in the 2nd. But USC would remain composed. They got on the board with a 59-yard strike at the end of the half and again late in the third to pull within 3. USC had several opportunities to take the lead, but came up short in the end.
How good is that secondary? MSU held USC to 3 of 16 passing for 80 yards with 2 INTs.
Bits - thanks for helping me represent the Spartans in California.
Wyoming gets blasted vs Virginia 31-2
Florida gets two late TDs to distort how close this game was in earning a win over #3 Stanford, 34-13. gg JCA
Stanford splits a pair of games vs SEC opponents to open 2025. A Week 1 trip to Auburn saw the Cardinal pull out a 31-28 win. Week 2, Stanford dropped their home opener to Florida 34-13 after a kickoff return and interception which gave Florida a short field allowed the Gators to pull away in the end.
Michigan blasts hapless Ball St., 56-10. Defense forced multiple fumbles, returning 1 for a TD. Starting RB David Harris was knocked out early with a bruised elbow. He was replaced by back-up Jason Greene who dominated the Cardinals on the ground for 131yards and 2 TDs.
OU and FSU were in a tight battle early on, FSU put the drive of the game together imo the best drive of the game and we returned the KO for a td after that and the game turned on Mike and his Noles...
OU ends up winning this one 42-17.
GG Mike, you have done some good things with your team bro.
Florida takes care of Ole Miss at home, 31-3.
Auburn beats Miss St 41-28. Auburn finally gets the run game going.
After 2 tough games vs SEC opponents to open up the season, Stanford gets an easier game and routs Boise State 51-10. The defense scored twice and redshirt freshman QB Vernon Carter had another solid rushing day, rushing for 93 yards and a score.
Next up, the Cardinal will open up Pac 12 play when they host UCLA.
FSU fights back to win 35-34 over Syracuse
Meechigan takes out Clemson, 45-31. David Harris has a good day rushing and the passing game was on point.
Auburn done recruiting
Bama's talent overcomes a scrappy Virginia team. The final score would have actually been about 20-10. GG egofailure
OU wins at home over Rado...still very good and tough the game was tied at 10 late third qtr.
Will Hardgrove read where the coach was calling him out in the paper and stepped up his game with several tackles a crushing huge hit that caused a fumble that really sent the Buffs into a tailspin.
Final 38-10 Sooners.
Florida over Tennessee 49-24.
Next: @Kentucky (8:00 PM, ESPNU)
Stanford wins their Pac 12 opener against UCLA, 41-14. Running Back Lawrence Kennedy and Quarterback Vernon Carter both go over 100 yards on the ground for the nation's top rushing attack.
This week, the Cardinal look to get a leg up in the Pac 12 North race as they host divisional foe Nevada.
FSU gets revenge on Duke final 35- 24
Auburn beats WMU 42-26. WMU would not go away. This game was a game of big plays for Auburn. Marshall threw 5 Td passes and had several long connections. Tackling was very suspect again. We have to get better here or we will struggle.
Bama has to pass the ball more than usual due to an injury to RB Mark Davis who will be out a couple of weeks but gets the job done 42-14 over Arkansas.
Cincinnati nips Baylor 31-29
MSU Fights To Stay Unbeaten
Illinois marched into Spartan Stadium and got off to a great start with a 14-0 lead over the defending champs. MSU, sporting a 20-something game winning streak, had some early blunders and had to fight back from a 7-pt 4th quarter deficit. Sparty got the tying score with a few minutes left and kicked the winner as time expired. MSU hosts Nebraska in week 6 before a brutal road stretch - @OSU, @Michigan and @Florida.
