Bayou Bengals use the Mean Green as Kitty Litter

As new head coach Dean Evans assumes the helm the LSU Tigers respond in a terribly terrific way by dismantling the Mean Green of North Texas.
The hard-nosed run it down your throat style of Coach Evans appears to have taken hold in Death Valley. With the Tigers amassing a whopping 389 yards of rushing, things seem to be off to a good start. Jr HB Mike Ford ripped off 242 yards on 18 carries with 3 TDs in the first half. Four other Bengals got on the stat page in the rushing column by splitting 147 yards including the 3rd string RB.

Along with Coach Evans and his new running game is a very quick and ball-hawking defense that crippled the North Texas offense. Being in the negative with rushing yards was a hard pill to swallow for the NT coach but he was less impressed with his teams ability to hold on to the ball. Two fumbles and two interceptions nearly brought the NT coach to tears. Both of the INTs were picked by Jr FS Craig Loston, of which one was a pick-6 of 2 yards. Coach Evans was quoted as saying that things were looking good in LSU. Geaux Tigers.

Hokies Avoid Late Game Collapse Against Aggies in Season Opener

A potential hard-earned win for the Virginia Tech Hokies turned much harder when they gave up 15 4th quarter points to Texas A&M to give the Aggies a big chance to steal the opener in Blacksburg. The Hokies have dropped their season opener in the past two seasons (Vs. Boise State and Michigan State) so fans thought they were seeing deja vu. A great sustained drive led by Running backs David Wilson and Tony Gregory restored order within the Hokie Nation and the defense held the Aggie offense in the closing minute to secure the victory. "It wasn't pretty, but we got it done" said Wilson. Many national critics weren't sure if Junior David Wilson was ready to take over the role as feature back after the departure of Darren Evans last season. He took the criticism in stride and showed he can be a premier running back in the ACC this season. Quarterback Logan Thomas didn't have an exceptional game, but showed flashes of improved skills from last year. "I probably wasn't ready for the limelight last season, but that experience is going to help me so much this season" he said. The Hokies must face the Pitt Panthers next week in a big match-up for both teams. "We need this one" said Coach Frank Beamer.
