Georgia Tech Beats Boise State In Opener

Boise State coming to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech was a big deal. Boise State was trying to prove to many around the country that they were for real and Georgia Tech was trying to prove that the option attack is still in full force. The game began with Boise State receiving the ball and marching down the field unopposed until they got into the red zone. Georgia Tech then realized we better step it up and they held Boise State to a field goal. From that point on the game was dominated by the Yellow Jackets. The offense took the field and ran the ball right down the Broncos throats. The triple option gave Boise all sorts of problems and Georgia Tech took the lead 7-3 on a Roddy Jones 1 yard touchdown run. Georgia Tech's defense took the field once again and forced Boise State to punt. Georgia Tech received the ball with less than a minute remaining in the first half and went all the way down the field. They were going to kick a field goal, but Josh Nesbitt was called for intentional grounding and the Yellow Jackets were taken out of field goal range. At the half the score was 7-3 Georgia Tech. The second half was all Yellow Jackets. On their first possession they scored on a 70 yard touchdown run by Roddy Jones off of option pitch. It was a thing of beauty and will have people talking all week. Roddy Jones scored again in the fourth quarter on another 1 yard touchdown run to give Georgia Tech a 21-3 lead. Boise State tried to make something happen, but the Yellow Jackets defense was just too good. In the final seconds Josh Nesbitt took a knee and Georgia Tech got their season off to a perfect start.

    Final Score: 21-3 Georgia Tech

    Player of the Game
Roddy Jones: 12 Attempts, 156 Yards, 3 Touchdowns
